My Life In Lists

I am someone who makes lots of lists.  You could probably learn a lot about me for all the various lists that I keep.  I write them down on paper, I put them on TeuxDeux.com, I make them in my head.  So prompt seven for JYC was just up my alley.

You may be wondering where my page for December 6 is?  Well I have to wait till my trip as one of the photos I want to include I have not as yet taken.  The prompt is about documenting a tale of two christmases and my idea is to compare Christmas 08, 09 and 10.  So I have a place holder for it until I have all I need to complete it.

 

Perfection and Counting Down

If you could just forget about it all what would be your perfect Christmas?  That was the prompt for Day 4 of Journal Your Christmas.  For me a perfect Christmas equals spending time with family.  This year we are again heading home to warmer climates and I am especially excited because my sister, Lucas and Kieran will also be there.

Today's prompt had us thinking about Advent Calendars and counting down to the big day.  I am not one to make an Advent Calendar although I love seeing all the ingenious ideas that others come up with.  My count down is more based on shipping dates and my holiday break, especially from my commute, and this year I am also adding a count down to my trip home.

My December Manifesto

I can't believe that it is December 1st.  Where did the year go.  This also means that it is day one of Journal Your Christmas.  Today was about stating our intentions for this journey.  I loved the download that Shimelle provided and decided to use that here on my blog seeing that the first page in my book already has a manifesto.  Yes it is from last year when I started this and got as far as prompt one but since my reasons for doing this again this year are pretty much the same I decided to use last year's page instead of making a new one.  Here is my manifesto courtesy of Shimelle!  You can also see the first page of my book here.

So Excited for JYC!

Shimelle's class Journal Your Christmas starts tomorrow and I can hardly wait! This is my second year attempting this.  Last year I failed miserable and only got the cover and the first page completed.  I am taking a different approach this year.  I decided to put my album together ahead of time so now all I have to do is add photos, journaling and some extra embellishments if needed.  So stay tune and follow me on my journy for the next 31 days.

Ready for Journal Your Christmas

Last year I attempted Shimelle's Journal Your Christmas class and did not get very far.  Ok to be honest I got as far as the cover and the first page.  The neat thing about this class is that if you joined in once you can participate every Christmas after that for no additional cost.  So I am trying again this year.

I am being smarter about it and instead of just having all the supplies that I think that I will use handy I went ahead and put my album together.  Now all I have to do is add the journaling and a photo for each day.  I can add extra embellishments as well if needed.

The class runs December 1st to Jan 6 but I am going to stop on December 31st.  Here is my album and a sample of the pre-made pages.  Page 1 was from last year but it pertains to this year as well so I guess I am a day ahead already!  I used stuff in my stash that I have had for at least a year or two and my Bind-it-all.

 
  

Why This? Why Now?

I know this is a busy time of year so why do this now one may ask.  Well for one I tried doing a daily album last year and got as far as making the cover and then fell off the wagon.  Life's little instruction booklet says give everyone a 2nd chance...so this is mine.  I am also doing this because I really want to get back to the days where I created a lot more than I do now, I want to blog on a regular basis, and I want to write.  This journal, to me, is the best way to combine and accomplish all these things.  Finally I love Christmas so what better motivation than to create and write about something you love!

Journaling My Christmas

So believe it or not I signed up for another Shimelle class - Journal Your Christmas affectionately know as JYC.  I am actually looking forward to doing this I really have the best of intentions to keep up with it.  I have pulled all my Christmas stuff out and decided to make it easy on myself by just using the S.E.I Alpine Frost assortment pack as the main paper for this project.  I even pulled out extra matching cardstock and patterned paper so I am all ready to go.  Tonight I made the cover for my book as well.  I love how it turned out.

I decided to go with an 8x8 book and pulled out some Terese Collins Bracket book covers and matching page protectors and will use my Bind-It-All (knew it would come in handy one day ha ha ha) once all my pages are completed to put my book together.

I took a look at some of last year's prompts and I love that the  class covers stuff like the weather, Christmas correspondence, and Christmas memories.  The first prompt will be delivered to my mail box on Tuesday, December 1.

On a totally unrelated note I never in a million years thought that I would say this but it does not feel like the holiday season without any snow and temperatures in the 50s.  There I said it.  Of course you know what will happen now...blizzard (lol).
