Happiness in a Box

I believe it is every year that Pink Paislee has a warehouse sale to clean out and make room for new products.  This is the second year that I have done this and I am once again blown away by the amount of awesome product that they stuff the box with.  It is definitely a great deal and more than worth every penny.  I think too that this year I was doublely pleased to get some scrap goodness in the mail.  I have not really been buying a lot of scrap stuff as I am trying to use from my stash and also use my Silhouette for embellishments etc. instead of going out and buying.  I am so inspired by my new goodies.  Now I just need to find space to pack it all away.

Style Statement

Spring Training began yesterday over at Ella Publishing and the first exercise was to define your style and create a style statement.  Here is what I found out about my style.

I have to say though that I think my style is forever changing as it was hard for me to find a lot of elements that repeated themselves on multiple layouts.  It seemed that every two or three layouts I did something completely different.  I think my style depends on the mood that I am in.

So how about you?  Do you have a specific style when you scrap?

The Story of the Uncompleted

I don't know why I decided to take an inventory of all my uncompleted projects but I did and here's what I found:

Knitted scarf - humm winter is almost over so maybe this can be put back in the to be completed pile till later.

Crochet afghan - I started this like 4 years ago and I really, really want to finish it.  It would be good for cool afternoons outside in the spring, summer and fall so into the finish asap pile.

Journal Your Christmas 2010 album ( a Shimelle Class) - I started this with the 2009 class (got the cover and day one completed) then picked back up in December 2010.  Did much better and got as far as day.  However I am really not in the mood to do Christmas stuff and this class does repeat every year so back in the to be completed pile with you.

Art Journal - This was for Learn Something New Everyday (LSNED) another Shimelle class (I love her classes by the way) that I was really determined to complete on time but as they say...the best laid plans.  I really enjoyed playing with paint and just going with the flow and I at least want to get the backgrounds completed and I can always add content as I am inspired.  Think this will turn into more than just a LSNED art journal.  So into the finish now pile you go.

Altered Cigar Box - I can't remember the story behind this one lol.  Really need to finish it though...finish pile(?)

I also have some frames that I want to use to frame some Silhouette cuts, Polaroid photos from home that have been sitting on my desk waiting for me to make a mini book with them and...well you get the picture.  So now that the days are finally getting longer and warmer (knock on wood) I am hoping that I will find the inspiration to finish these projects as well as work on some new stuff.

Summer Camp Anyone?

No not just any old summer camp but Scrap Camp over at the Scrap-Friendzy forum.  It's not to late to sign up. The kick-off is this weekend and the first challenge will be posted on Monday 6/7.

Bookmarks

In keeping with the theme of reading more books for the rest of the year, I decided to make these bookmarks for the monthly how-to I do for the Ranger Ink group on yahoo.  After all you can never have to many bookmarks.

To make these you will need cardstock, inks, markers (I used Ranger's Distress and Archival Inks as well as my newly acquired Le Plume Markers), lace and/or ribbon and stamps.

How-To

Cut bookmarks from card stock.  Press distress ink pad onto a craft mat.  Spritz with water in mini mister.  Swirl bookmark in ink until fully covered.  Repeat with all colors of distress ink and remaining bookmarks.  Let dry completely.  To speed up drying and flatten iron with a craft iron or dry with heat gun.

Using archival ink stamp quotes onto another piece of card stock.  Ink flower images with markers and stamp onto cardstock.  Cut stamped quotes and flowers out. Edge and lightly ink with distress inks to match the color of the bookmark they will be used on.

 

Cut lace/ribbon.  Use distress inks to color one piece of lace/ribbon to match the color of the bookmark.   Use markers to color another piece of the lace/ribbon to match the flower for the bookmark.

 

Punch hole in top of bookmarks and attach an eyelet.  Attach the quote, flower image and the marker colored lace/ribbon to the bookmarks.  Add the distress ink colored lace/ribbon through the eyelet.

 

Use to save your place in your favorite summer reads.

I’ve Been Scrapping

I think my dry spell is finally over.  I actually completed a layout and I have one in progress on my scrap desk, another one sketched out, and a whole lot of ideas floating around in my head.  Yesterday I took some time to print a bunch of photos that have been sitting in my camera so now I have a nice stack to choose from as the mojo flows through me.  I’ll share the new stuff as soon as I get it scanned.
