September Inkling

For my September InkIing for the Yahoo Rangerinklink group I  decided to play with a couple colors of the Alcohol Ink - Brights and some Tim Holtz Fragments I have had sitting around.

 

I used the applicator tool to apply the two colors of the alcohol ink and then flipped over the fragments so that the alcohol ink was on the bottom and then stamped the image and phrase with black Ranger Archival Ink.  I will be using this on a wooden cigar box that I am in the process of altering.  Simple but effective.

Inspiration Cards

I love spending time in book stores just browsing as you never know what treasures you will find.  A few weeks ago I was in Barnes & Noble and came across this book in their bargain section: It's Never Too Late...172 simple acts to change your life by Patrick Lindsay.  I liked the ideas that were in it and decided to grab a copy.  When I got home I had the great idea of using some of them to make these cards for Sheldon so that whenever he need that extra push he could flip through them and draw inspiration from the simple yet oh so powerful statements.

Here are just a few of the cards.

 

I used a deck of playing cards and painted them with gesso then with Making Memories acrylic paint and decorated with an assortment of rub-ons. The phrases were printed on a vellum type paper and then torn out and the edges inked.

I have been trying to read one of these acts myself everyday as each one is also accompanied by some words of encouragement from the author and also a proverb or quote related to the act.

I found these words at AC Moore and decided to alter them for my scrap room.  These beauties now adorn one of my walls and are now instant inspiration for me everyday.  Photos by my wonderful hubby Sheldon.

 

 

 

Playing with Paint

I decided that I needed a bigger, nicer place to store all my handmade cards until they were sent off to their new homes.  I found this wooden box on clearance at AC Moore and knew it would be perfect for what I had in mind.  So I pulled out my trusty Ranger Products and went to work creating this as my Ranger Inkling how to for August.

Altered Canvas

Altered Mini Tub

It's been too long since I posted some new work.  Here is the latest how-to  that I did for my Ranger Inkling group over on Yahoo.  I am going to use it to hold candles.  I actually altered two of them.

Supplies

Tim Holtz Adirondack Alcohol Inks

Inkessentials Glossy Accents

Tim Holtz Distress Crackle Paint

Inkessentials Ink Blending Tool

Flowers

Ghost Shapes

Metal Mini Tubs

Ribbon (optional)

Method:

1.      Paint tub with Crackle Paint and let dry completely until paint crackles.

2.      Brush Glossy Accents over dried paint to give it a gloss and it also acts as a sealer.  Let dry completely.

3.      While waiting for glossy accents to dry put a few drops of Alcohol Ink onto Blending Tool and use a pouncing action to color Ghost Shapes.

4.      Put a drop of Stickles in the center of each flower.  Let dry.

5.      Attach Ghost shapes to front of tub using Glossy Accents as the glue.  Also attach flowers around tub.  You can also decorate with coordinating ribbon as I did on mine.

6.      Use to display your favorite candle.
