Sunday Silhouettes

Are you ready for another adventure in Silhouette land.   I came across this dancer design while I was browsing the Silhouette online store and immediately knew I wanted to use it for a card.

So how did I achieve this.  Well I came across this post on the Silhouette blog and just knew that I wanted to achieve the same effect with the dancer shape.  However, I knew I was not using a print and cut design so had to figure out a way to adapt it to work with just doing a regular cut.  So this is what I came up with.

I used the square tool to draw the size of my card then I inserted the dancer shape and then adjusted both shapes so that the total width of the card including the dance was 10 inches so that when it is folded I get a 5 by 7 card.  Before going to the next step I copied the dancer shape onto a new document in the Silhouette studio.

I then selected both and grouped it as one image then used the weld tool to merge the two shapes into one as seen above.  Then sent it to be cut.

Next step was to cut the dancer shape (this is why a made a copy of it in step one).

Then I cut the dancer's skirt which was part of the original design when I first downloaded it.

The card was assembled by laying the individual dancer shape from step three over the card that was cut in step one.

I love the way she is perched on the edge of the card - very dynamic and striking! Like your butterflies on your layout for prompt 4 too.
