Sunday Silhouettes - Stuffed Toy

Stop the presses! I used my sewing machine today..woohoo!  Tried out the sewing fabric interfacing today and made this stuffed bird.

I found the design I wanted to use and opened it in the Silhouette software.

Ungrouped it so that I could cut the individual pieces from different fabric and resized them.  Copied each shape and flipped one copy of each shape horizontally so I had a mirror image as I was going to cut from the right side of the fabric.

To prepare the fabric just iron on the interfacing and cut any excess fabric off.  Send it through your Silhouette machine and you get the pieces as shown below.

I then stitched the yellow pieces to the pink and the brown to the yellow for each side.  Then put the two sides together (right sides together) and stitch around leaving an opening so that you can stuff it.  Turn right side out, stuff and stitch up the opening.  Add an eye and you have a cute stuffed animal.

After I was done I realized that I could have stuffed this with catnip for the kitties.  Oh well next time!

Sunday Silhouettes - Decorated T-Shirts

This week I continued with the decorated T-Shirt theme.  I tried the printable iron on heat transfer paper...the one for dark fabrics.

Here is the first one that I tried.

After I had the pattern on I decided to add some bling and learnt the hard way to be really careful with a hot iron and iron on material (LOL).

Here's how I did the main flower shape.  Note the butterflies were cut separately.

Since I was in the zone and also did not want to waste a whole sheet of the transfer material just on the butterflies I also made this t-shirt with a design I have wanted to use forever.  Isn't she cute!

I also found a source for cheaper Rhinestones than those that Silhouette sells (sorry Silhouette) and they also have multicolored packs which is awesome, and did this bling t-shirt which I absolutely love.

Sunday Silhouette - Rhinestones

I finally took the plunge and got the rhinestone kit from Silhouette.  Here's my first attempt at using it.

I love how easy it was and also that once you have design cut that you can use it again and again. 

I also figured out that you need the rhinestones in all the sizes.  Luckily I also figured out that the Imaginisce rhinestones that you can get at Michael's with a coupon work just as well.

Little Miss Sunshine 1st Birthday card for the daughter of one of my friends.

I wanted to use this regular cut image but was not in the mood to cut the differnet pieces from different colored paper so I decided to fill in with color and then used the print and cut feature.

Filled in the image with color.  Remember if you do this to also change the line color or you will have red lines when you print the image...just saying!

After I printed the image I used the weld tool so that when I sent it to the Silhouette only the outline would cut...learnt this the hard way after cutting it the first time without doing this step and ending up little pieces of Miss Sunshine...oops.  Of course after I did that I realized that I could have just used the cut style tool and select cut edge.  I love learning things about my Silhouette...maybe I should read the manual (lol).

Sunday Silhouettes

I had a busy weekend but was able to put together this quick card using my Silhouette.

Here is a screen shot of the layout in the Silhouette software.  I created a 5x7 rectangle to get an idea of how big I wanted to cut the various shapes.  Once I had them sized I then copied the various pieces onto a new studio document so that I could cut them in the colors that I wanted.  Once each piece was cut I layered them and put the card together.

Sunday Silhouettes

For this week's Silhouette I am playing with vinyl again using it both as an embellishment to decorate and as a stencil.

Here I used the vinyl to decorate this tin.  Notice the green vinyl...I found this awesome multi pack on Amazon.com and I love it.  Now I can get a lot of colors in small amounts...sorry Silhouette store (not really).

    

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I then used the vinyl as a stencil on these mason jars.  I saw found this idea on Pinterest (see it's not just an online time waster) and just knew it would be perfect to add some lighting to my backyard.

Here is a before and after shot.  I used the vinyl stars as a stencil and then applied glass frosting spray to the jars.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

It was a bit windy outside so these were done quickly but I think for the rest of the jars I will and another layer or two of the frosting spray.

Sunday Silhouettes

I discovered these print and cut page kits and although I am not a big page kit user I thought I would use one to do layout this week.

It was really easy to do to.  I used the page kit below and re-sized it so that it was a bit bigger.   Then using the print and cut feature on the Silhouette I printed it out onto some generic photo paper that I have in my stash and then ran it through the Silhouette to cut the images.  I also found some coordinating images and also used those to add some more detail to the page.

I really loved how this all came together and will be trying it again with a different page kit that will go perfectly with another photo of Kieran that I have.

Since I got some vinyl for my Silhouette I have wanted to do something for a wall in the house but I just could not think of where and what I wanted to do.  Then yesterday when I was in the sunroom I had an ah ha moment and here are the results.

Sunday Silhouettes

Keeping with the cupcake theme for this weekend I used the print and cut feature on the Silhouette to cut these super cute cupcake toppers.

I think these would be perfect of an Alice in Wonderland themed party.
