Had a marathon baking session today. First step in my annual Christmas cookie making! I also added some cupcakes this year. Tomorrow I will frost the cupcakes and decorate the Christmas shaped cookies. Will share a photo when they are all done!
Friday night we hung out at Monica and Dave's for some Halloween fun. The woods near their house is turned into a haunted house every year and you can go walk through. Sheldon and I did the haunted house two years ago and have no need to go again so the last couple years we have just hang out at the house and enjoy some good company, food and drinks.
Here are the cupcakes that I made for the night. The ghost were pretty easy to make, just cut the tip of a piping bag filled with white frosting and cover the cupcake ending with a blob of frosting pulled into a 'peak' then add some mini M&M's as the eyes. This was an idea that I adapted from "What's New Cupcake" by Karen Tack and Alan Richardson.
The skulls are scrapbook die cuts from K&Company that I enhanced the eyes with Stickles then added lollipop sticks and stuck them into the cupcakes.
And since this has turned into a cupcake post I thought I may as well add the cupckaes that I made a couple of weeks ago.
Baked some more cupcakes this weekend and tried out a new icing tip as well.
And since I am on the subject of cupcakes I totally want the new Silhouette machine as it is perfect for making cupcake wrappers amonst other things. Various websites are currently doing giveaways for the Silhouette. Check out the links below and enter for your chance to win.
I have been trying out some cupcake recipes and putting my own unique spin on them. Sheldon and my work colleagues are now my official tasters (whether they know it or not lol). Below are vanilla and what I like to call spice isle cupcakes.
Our plum trees have been going crazy producing fruit. We have ate, given away, and just plain left some for the squirrels and still the trees continue to be laden. This is just a small sample of what we have picked not to mention the amounts we have given away. Sheldon insists that I take some of this to work (I have already brought about half of this amount to work this week) as he says he is sure he will get just as many if not more again tomorrow. Anyone want some plums!!
